Greetings from Graceland!!!
We are in Memphis, TN and have had quite the experience here in the last few days!
On our way here coming from New Orleans, we were in the middle of a tornado warning in southern Mississippi! The rain was coming down so hard, we could barely see out the window! The warning that would come on the radio said “if you are traveling in a motor vehicle, get out and find shelter immediately, if you cannot find shelter, then lie down in the nearest ditch and cover your head.” Um..what?!!!! How would a ditch help us?!!! We were two kids from California worried about a tornado…looking back, it was quite the comedy!lol It happened again the other night…..a huge storm rolled in with thunder and lightning and all Chris and I could say was, “how can you see a tornado coming in the dark?!!!” If a single tree limb would start moving in the wind, we would start to get scared!lol We thought about wearing our helmets, but thought it might make it harder to run into the nearest building! So…apparently it is tornado season…lucky us! We are well and have survived so far!!! YAY!
We made our way over to Graceland to pay Elvis a visit on one of the days we were here! We weren’t sure what exactly to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised! We went on a tour of his home, which is exactly how he left it and completely decked out in the 70’s!!! Shag carpet from floor to ceiling, it was awesome!lol We got to see a lot of his crazy outfits and we actually learned that he was a great humanitarian, who donated a lot of his money and paid off debts for perfect strangers…..he seemed like a pretty cool guy! We definitely recommend Graceland to anyone who comes through Memphis!!!
We are off to Nashville! We have heard it is a bigger city, with more to do, so we are excited to see it! I will be celebrating my bday there, so it should be lots of fun! We hope all is going well! We love and miss you all! We will write again soon!
